Detailed course description:
The seminar will highlight the peculiar manner in which Japan introduced copyright protection in the 19th century, Japan’s subsequent accession to international copyright conventions and present problems of copyright protection in the real and in the virtual world. The course will also compare the Japanese copyright system with the Continental European droit d’auteur system and Anglo-American copyright. Students are required to give a presentation and to write a term paper (15 – 20 p.).
